From September through November, anglers can try their hand at some of the largest freshwater game fish in the world. Our King Salmon range up to 30 pounds, with many fish pushing past 20 pounds. As the Kings and Cohos begin to spawn, our dime-bright steelhead begin to enter the river. These acrobatic fish bring anglers from all over the world trying to land one of these trophies. Our steelhead season lasts from October until late spring, when the fish drop back to the lake after spawning. Summer-run steelhead, also called Skamania, show up around June, and are most abundant after heavy rains. Come to the Tailwater Lodge. Go home with a fishing story you’ll tell again and again.

FISHING SEASONS
SALMON
Beginning in late summer/early fall King and Coho Salmon begin to enter the Salmon River. These fish are true trophies with king salmon reaching the mid 20 pound range. These hard fighting fish are the perfect target for anglers looking for an experience unlike any other in the area.
STEELHEAD
Steelhead fishing on the salmon River is unlike any other experience in the northeast. The Steelhead enter the river soon after the Kings have begun to spawn and will stay in the river system until spring when they return to the lake after spawning. A truly acrobatic fish with strong runs, Steelhead fishing is full of heart pounding action. Our guides will help you fish for Steelhead by both swinging flies with two handed fly rods or nymphing with stoneflies for the finicky eater. Experience a full day on the water by floating from pool to pool with one of our Orvis Endorsed Guides at the helm of a drift boat.
